Many natural deformation processes are not visible to the human eye but still capable to produce repeated damages to man-made structures. They include slow-moving landslides and land subsidence. Houses built on old deep seated landslide deposits, or in an area affected by high differential deformation due to subsidence, may develop cracks and crevices.

Insurance, re-insurance companies, and real estate agencies may benefit from historical  InSAR deformation data if engineering projects, historical buildings or houses need to be insured/evaluated.

Despite of the well-known assets exposition to the flood and seismic risks, with related insurance policies, the loss of value induced by deformation phenomena like landslides, subsidence and sinkholes is not yet codified.
